ALL ABOUT HIMOS YOGA

Hi I’m Clare. I run HIMOS Yoga that is part of the fabulous HIMOS Hub, a gorgeous art and yoga school. 


What I love about yoga is being able to connect to yourself, letting go of self judgement and doing what feels right for you in every moving moment. It also allows you to find true stillness within both your body and your mind. 


When teaching adults I like to offer a warm, friendly space to come and move your body, helping you to build strength whilst also allowing you to find stillness and relaxation and community connection. 


When teaching children it’s amazing to see how excited they feel when they are given the open opportunity to develop their creativity, confidence and self-expression through movement, the freedom of being able to put any idea, creature, story into mindful movement brings them so much joy. Mix this with the stillness and calm they can accomplish by adding in breathing exercises and meditation stories is incredible. Joy and peace together in one perfect moment. 


In my baby sessions I aim to create a calming, welcoming environment where new parents can simply be with their new baby. There is no expectation, we just take things nice and slowly and enjoy some true connection time. It’s wonderful so see bonds being built with nurturing touch and mindful exercises.

BABY SESSIONS

According to numerous studies, an infant who regularly receives massage will benefit in several ways including an increased awareness of his environment, better digestion and circulation, less fussiness and crying, and deeper, longer sleep. Some experts even believe babies who have received consistent massage develop a sense of self-awareness sooner than other babies, resulting in better self esteem later in life.


In teaching Asana/poses to your baby during baby yoga you are helping your baby to determine where their body parts are in space and teaching them that they are capable of moving in a variety of different ways. Introducing songs during class creates a playful and fun environment that encourages learning, safety and also helps baby to relax. Playful interactions = amazing connections. 


But let’s not forget about caregivers, parents, engaging in infant message and yoga means a stronger bond with their child, longer periods of quiet contentment, an equal sense of relaxation, and much needed parental confidence. If nothing else, there's little doubt that the touch of a parent's hand on the bare skin of her baby brings a healing element that can't be quantified.

CHILDREN’S CLASSES

Children's Yoga is all about having fun, 

whilst moving mindfully and learning simple breath work techniques. Yoga enables the children to learn essential tools for managing their emotions as well as discovering compassion and empathy for themselves and others.



Classes are all about being playful, being creative through play, communicating through play and connecting through play.  


I offer classes for pre school aged children, stay and play, which include a 40 minute yoga story, a mindful craft and free play time with toys I provide. I also offer primary aged classes, I have a weekly primary class on a Tuesday afternoon but also work within schools/children’s organisations to deliver yoga and mindfulness sessions.

ADULT CLASSES

Life is a dance between doing and being 

Let’s delve a little deeper into what you can expect from my adult yoga class. I like to hold space for you to come and take time to work on both strength within your body and stillness within your mind. Yoga for me is about connecting to yourself, letting go of self judgement, letting go of the idea of how something should look and doing what feels right for you in the moment. 

I combine a vinyasa style flow, that can be tailored to any level, which gets the body moving and helps to build strength, with gentle stillness and relaxation. You can expect a gentle warmup moving into a more energetic flow and then plenty of time to really relax and let go. 

I hope to create a truly welcoming space for all

YOGA FOR SCHOOLS AND GROUPS

Children are moving beings, they find joy, peace and are never more fully alive then when they are allowed to express themselves through movement.  

HIMOS Yoga can come direct to your school or group setting and deliver sessions tailored to your needs.  Yoga fits perfectly into your weekly PE or PHSE timetable and can be used during sports or children's mental health week.

I provide a friendly, fun and creative space, combining fitness with mindfulness and relaxation.  The sessions are all theme or story based and include some breathing exercises, upbeat movement as well as slow focused positions and poses, finishing with a yoga game and some guided relaxation.
